To test this, I generated special packages of OVITO 3.8.0 today that are built against Qt 6.5-beta3 and Qt 6.3.2:Ĭould you please give them a try and let me know whether they also exhibit the issue or not? Thank you. But so far this is just a first hypothesis. It could potentially be due to compatibility issues. Other affected apps Apart from Safari and Apple Mail, various apps are also crashing or stopped working ever since the Ventura update. And it seems that both first-party and third-party applications have been affected. From what we've learned so far, OVITO 3.7.11 and the versions before it were not yet affected by the issue.įurthermore, we know that the program crash happens in code that belong to the Qt cross-platform framework. OVITO 3.7.12 and 3.8.0 are based on latest Qt 6.4.2, whereas OVITO 3.7.11 was based on old Qt 6.3.2, which makes me believe that a regression in the newer Qt version could be responsible for this. While on Apple Mail, it is refusing to open certain attachments for some. We are still in the process of investigating the problem and finding possible solutions. The issue affected the previous stable release 3.7.12 of OVITO and probably also the current release 3.8.0, which was published yesterday.

See also another thread in this forum, where we received a similar report a few days ago: Go to settings - Safari and then tap on Clear History and Website Data.

It seems like some Mac users (but not all) experience this compatibility issue on Apple Silicon M1/M2 machines. Quote from Alexander Stukowski on March 4, 2023, 8:51 am
